The Regulatory Media consultative board

2009-02-25 09:01:23 - Media a soveriegn subject in sovereign nation.With the announcement of the regulatory board by the I&B head is contentious body .Government on announcement of consultative committee to head its Ministry make it to some extend the subject parasite which is against the sovereignity of the media.However the reactions from the media is awaited for this board formation.
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has constituted a Media Consultative Committee for media facilitation under the chairmanship of Secretary I&B.

Indian government has brought a regulatory board with the Secretary of I&B the Head of the Media Consultative Committee for Media facilitation a rostrum to discuss problems concerns of media, organisations on unanswered the content and various policy, procedural matters.

The members of the committee are Additional Secretary (Broadcasting); Additional Secretary (Policy &Administration) Member Secretary; Joint Secretary (Broadcasting); CEO: Prasar Bharti;
Principal DG (M&C) PIB; DG:DAVP; Member Secretary, National Commission for Women, New Delhi; Secretary, Press Council of India; President, Editors' Guild; President, Indian Newspapers Society (INS); President, News Broadcasters Association (NBA); President, Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF); President, Indian Media Group (IMG); President, Indian Women Press Corps, New Delhi; President, All India Newspapers Editor Conference (AINEC); President, All India Small and Medium Newspaper Federation (AISMNF); President, Indian Language Newspaper Association (ILNA); Smt. Sandhya Mulchandani, Journalist; Smt. Jyoti Bose, Principal, Springdales School, New Delhi and Smt. Merry Barua, Director, Action for Autism.

The terms of reference of the Committee would be as under:-

a) To serve as a forum of regular consultations between Government and various professional media bodies.

b) To provide a platform for exchange of views on concerns of civil society.

c) To discuss concerns of media organizations on various regulatory/policy/procedural matters.

d) The Committee will meet at least twice a year or as and when necessary.
