The earthquake’s depth was measured at 18.2 miles.There have been no immediate reports of any fatalities, injuries or significant damages in the immediate area.

2010-04-14 11:23 China's Qinghai Province Earthquake of 7.1-magnitude in Yushu county,western Qinghai province devasted the county killing more than 300 people and 8000 injured in house collapsed.The quake struck the Yushu County in Yushu prefecture at 7:49 a.m. with a depth of about 33 km. The epicenter is calculated to be 33.1 north and 96.7 east, the China Earthquake Networks Center reported.At least three aftershocks have been reported so far, with the biggest being 6.3 magnitude about an hour and 36 minutes later.The epicenter is about 30 km away from the Jiegu Township, the government seat of the Yushu prefecture, and about 800 km away from Xining, the provincial capital."We have set up rescue headquarters in Jiegu," said Huang Limin, deputy secretary-general of the Yushu prefecture government."Soldiers have been dispatched to save the people buried in the collapsed houses," he said.Telecommunications were temporarily cut after the quake, but have been restored, he added.

An earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter Scale shook parts of Andaman and Nicobar islands 30 March 10.24PM but there was no report of any death or damage.The quake, which measured 6.8 on the Richter Scale in Bhubaneshwar, jolted coastal areas of Orissa, bringing panic-stricken people in some areas out of their houses.As some places including Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur were shaken by the tremor, people were seen moving out of their houses.Many people in Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur spent time in the open."The epicentre of the earthquake was located at Landfall Island, 240 km north of Port Blair. The earthquake shook parts of Andaman islands but no tsunami alert was sounded," Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman S N Jha said.The tremors were felt in middle and north Andaman, Chief Secretary Vivek Roy said.Authorities of North Andaman and Defence have been alerted, he said.Officials of Disaster Management Control Room said the earthquake struck the archipelago at about 10.24 pm.Jha said people living in Diglipur in Andaman Islands came out of their residences in panic but no reports of damage was reported from any part of the archipelago.
