MSME need new measures & schemes

MSME Minister Virbhadra Singh said a series of measures are being taken next fiscal for better performance of this segment of industrial sector which contributes eight percent to GDP.MSME is the second largest employer in the country. He said market share of these industries needs to be enhanced to ensure inclusive growth and development in the country.Giving details of the measures on cards the Minister said it includes the schemes for supporting the States to set up rehabilitation funds, evolution of new schemes and adoption of modern and clean technologies.He noted that the textiles, leather, gems and jewellery and auto components industry has come out from the impact of the global economic meltdown and these enterprises are doing well in achieving the export target. Mr. Singh said that the credit to this sector has been included in the priority sector lending but the process of providing credit needs have to be accelerated for higher growth.Mr. Virbhardra Singh conceded that discrepancies have come to his notice in providing credit to these enterprises.

The Minister asserted that government is committed to provide a level playing field including marketing facilities to this sector. He added special focus is on to preserve and promote traditional handicrafts in the country. He renewed the government's pledge to provide clean and hassle free system for the growth of this sector of economy.
