Government to Appoint a Committee to Enquire into Faridabad Air Crash
In a tragic and unfortunate accident, an air ambulance aircraft of M/s Air Ambulance Services (P) Ltd., a Non-scheduled Operation Permit holder crashed in Faridabad at 22.45 hrs. on 25.5.2011 on a flight from Patna to Delhi, killing 7 persons on board including Commander and Co-Pilot. Commander of the ill-fated plane reported to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) that he was facing bad weather. The aircraft crashed killing 3 persons on the ground and injuring 3 others. A team from the DGCA headed by the Joint Director General rushed to the site for rescue and relief operation. All the injured were admitted to the local hospital.

Another team lead by Deputy Director (Air Safety) has been asked to visit the site for collection of detailed facts. A preliminary report has been received in the Ministry. The Government will appoint a Committee of Enquiry into investigation to determine causes, contributory factors and recommendations in order to prevent such accidents in future.

A working group has been set up to review existing safety regulatory frame work of general aviation, NSOP holders and air ambulance operations.
