#Action Research Project on Community Women’s Rights and Access to Water and Sanitation in Delhi’s Resettlement Colonies (2009-2011) Presentation of key findings- July 22, 2011 from 1:30 – 5 p.m. at Indian Social Institute, New Delhi-In 2009, Jagori and Women in Cities International (WICI), Canada, undertook an action research study in partnership with CBGA, Action India, Delhi and with support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada. Other partners include: Women’s Feature Service, Kriti Resource Centre and One world Foundation.

The study was undertaken in two J.J. relocation colonies: Bhalswa and Bawana. The overall objective of this research was to test and adapt the women’s safety audit methodology to generate a concrete model for engaging community women with their local governments, and other partners, to begin to address the gender service gap in essential services. 

We are organizing a session to share the research findings and the development of strategies by the two communities. We look forward to suggestions and feedback from sister organisations and community women leaders on these findings that could enable the women’s collectives in Bawana and Bhalswa to take forward some concrete actions and catalyse change for their lives.
