Lawn mower endurance race held in Finland
A crowd of cheering people braved sub-zero temperatures this weekend to watch a 3-hour lawn mower race in Finland.

The endurance test was held just outside the capital, Helsinki, on Saturday.

The temperature at the course was minus 6 degrees Celsius but that didn't stop drivers from Finland, Britain, Estonia and elsewhere from jumping onto their mowers and seeing who could get around the 600-meter snow- covered course the most in 3 hours.

Lawn mowers can run at top speeds of 50 kilometers per hour. Some participants even set up pits on the edge of the course where they could repair their mowers just like in real car races.

The organizer says lawn mower racing is universally enjoyed and that the United States actually has a lawn mower racing association.
