National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) with support from Centre for Civil Society (CCS) is going to organize a ‘National Street Vendors Dialogue with Political Leaders and Civil Society Representatives to Convert the Street Vendors Livelihood Protection Bill into the Act’ on 1 May in Delhi.
This huge national convention would be attended by more than one thousand street vendor representatives of various states.
The Union Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Shri Ajay Maken would join the dialogue as the Chief Guest. The Union Minister of Railways Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal would also join as Special Guest. Besides, several leaders across political spectrum, civil society representatives, labour rights activists and functionaries of development agencies would join the event.
The main purpose of organizing the dialogue is to build momentum on getting effective central    law in the current session of parliament itself through bringing key stakeholders including Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, civil society representatives, labour and human rights activists, and street vendors of several states together in support of immediate enactment of Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act.
