"En puntas" de Javier Pérez
Sobre la instalación mostrada en Kochi: "En Puntas" es una instalació y video hecho por el artista Javier Pérez junto con la bailarina Amélie Ségarra ejecutando una increíble danza sobre un gran piano, enteramente en puntas, utilizando un set customizado de zapatillas de ballet, que extienden el talón con un par de cuchillos de cocina muy afilados. Si bailar en puntas de pie por un período prolongado de tiempo no es suficiente, Ségarra sumó la presión de balancearse en una fina plataforma, todavía a mayor altura. El hecho de que Ségarra mantuviese el equilibro e inclusive dejara sus marcas a propósito con las cuchillas afiladas a lo largo del piano, es a la vez, estimulante y aterrador. La intensa pérformance se hace aún más atrapante a medida que las puntas de los pies de la elegante bailarina se acercan a los bordes de la mesa, haciendo más difícil apartar la vista de la danza. La poderosa proeza de fuerza y equilibrio ejemplificada por la bailarina, es eventualmente acompañada por la angustia emocional en sus gritos de dolor, cuando la presión del tiempo y el agotamiento físico pesan sobre sus sobrecargados pies. La pérformance de Ségarra dibuja la empatía de la audiencia, mientras se fuerza a sí misma, buscando la perfección. Ella se encuentra, al mismo tiempo, hermosa y rota. El proyecto afirma: "[Pérez] revela la debilidad que significan los límites entre conceptos aparentemente irreconciliables tales como belleza-crueldad, fragilidad-violencia, cultura-naturaleza, vida y muerte." About the artwork in Kochi: «En Puntas» A ballerina, whose pointe shoes are extended by a set of sharp kitchen knives, dances and twirls insistently until reaching exhaustion, fighting to maintain balance on the lid of a grand piano set on a stage. The theatre with its red velvet warm lighting, resembles an oversized musicbox. The camera turns around the dancer revealing the opposite side of the room: an empty and painfully bare theatre. The ballerina appears as an eerie figure expressing effort, sacrifice and pain in her strive for perfection. Both fragile and cruel. Initially shy and hesitant, her steps become more and more emphatic, menacing and not exempt of violence, scraping and cutting into the delicate surface of the piano with her sharp pointe shoes. Through this work, Javier Perez investigates and reflects once again upon the human condition. Using a strongly metaphorical language rich in powerful symbolism, he reveals the weaknesses that become the boundaries between seemingly irreconcilable concepts such as: beauty and cruelty, fragility and violence, culture and nature or life and death.

Presentación del libro: "Pablo Neruda en Braille" por Aparajit ChattopadhyaySobre el libro: "Odas a las Cosas" es una selección de poemas del Premio Nobel de la Paz chileno, Pablo Neruda, editado por el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Chile a través de la Embajada de Chile en India, y dedicado especialmente a los lectores ciegos y con discapacidad visual del Sur Asia. El libro contiene obras del poeta que han sido traducidas al bengalí e impresas por primera vez en el sistema Braille, respondiendo a la iniciativa de la Asociación de Personas Ciegas de Calcuta, y traducidos por el Prof. Aparajit Chattopadhyay. Este trabajo constituye un esfuerzo sin precedentes para acercar a todos el universo multicolor y sin fronteras de la herencia literaria de Neruda. (+)
Book launch: "Pablo Neruda in Braille" by Aparajit ChattopadhyaySynopsis: "Odes to Things" is a selection of odes of the Chilean Nobel Prize Laureate, Pablo Neruda, released in 2016 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile through the Embassy of Chile in India and especially dedicated to the blind and the visually impaired readers of South Asia. The book contains works of the poet which have been translated into Bangla language and printed for the first time into Braille system. It responds to the initiative of "Blind Persons' Association" of Kolkata, having been translated by Prof. Aparajit Chattopadhyay. This work constitutes an unprecedented effort to bring closer the multicoloured and borderless universe of Neruda´s literary heritage to all. (+)

Ciclo de cine colombiano: "El Abrazo de la Serpiente"Sinopsis: Karamakate fue en su día un poderoso chamán del Amazonas; es el último superviviente de su pueblo y vive en lo más profundo de la selva. Lleva años en total soledad, que lo han convertido en "chullachaqui", una cáscara vacía de hombre, privado de emociones y recuerdos. Pero su solitaria vida da un vuelco el día en que a su remota guarida llega Evan, un etnobotánico norteamericano en busca de la yakruna, una poderosa planta oculta, capaz de enseñar a soñar. Karamakate accede a acompañar a Evan en su búsqueda y juntos emprenden un viaje al corazón de la selva en el que el pasado, presente y futuro se confunden, y en el que el chamán irá recuperando sus recuerdos perdidos. Colombian Film Series: "Embrace of the Serpent"Synopsis: Filmed in stunning black-and-white, "Embrace of the Serpent" centers on Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman and the last survivor of his people, and the two scientists who, over the course of 40 years, build a friendship with him. The film was inspired by the real-life journals of two explorers (Theodor Koch-Grünberg and Richard Evans Schultes) who traveled through the Colombian Amazon during the last century in search of the sacred and difficult-to-find psychedelic Yakruna plant.
