Deve Gowda condolences on the Passing of Sathya Sai Baba

FORMER PRIME MINISTER AND JANATA DAL (SECULAR) NATIONAL PRESIDENT SHRI H D DEVE GOWDA ON THE PASSING AWAY OF SATHYA SAI BABA
New Delhi, April 25: I am shocked and saddened to learn about the passing away of iconic spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba, who was an embodiment of love.
Sathya Sai Baba won the hearts and captured the imagination of millions not only with his spiritual healing but also unparalleled service to mankind, irrespective of caste, colour or creed. His medical, philanthropic and social services to help the underprivileged and needy stands out as an example of selfless service to humanity, at a time when materialism, greed and avarice seems to be holding the sway. To the hungry, He gave food, to the thirsty, He gave water, to the illiterate, He gave education, to the sick, He gave medi care and to one and all, He gave love and affection. He was not only a Bharata Ratna in the real sense of the term but also a ‘MANAVA RATNA’. Secular to the core, Sathya Sai Baba never used religion for politics or exploited the sentiments of the masses to promote his family or vested interests. He turned the remote hamlet of Puttaparthi in Ananthpur district of Andhra Pradesh into the universal capital of love and service to mankind.

Undoubtedly, he was a gift of God to humanity. He has attained Moksha and his services would continue to inspire millions of people across the world in the days to come. My family joins me in extending our heartfelt condolences to the revered master’s family, the Trustees and millions of devotees the world over. I am confident that Sathya Sai Baba’s life, teachings and eternal presence would continue to guide the Trust to carry forward the Herculean tasks initiated by Him with renewed vigour and dedication.

Serving mankind selflessly would be the most befitting humble tribute we as a nation can pay to the great avatara purusha.
