TEHRI DAM CEO WOKE UP AFTER 10-12 DAYS,

THDC Informed INCOMPETENTLY after 10-12 days and Correct & Transparent report would be – ‘Tehri Dam absorbed 244,000 cusecs peak Flood Inflows of Bhagirathi River and 245,000 cusecs from Alaknanada River was not absorbed in absence of Storage Dams – without Tehri Flood Flows At Devprayag, Rishikesh and Haridwar would have been 489,000 cusecs would have demolished these towns like Kedarnath Dham. Bhagirathi River down stream of Tehri Dam to Devprayag 77 kilometer was 100% saved from floods.

Ø      All this while Tehri Dam and sister Koteshwar Dam operated at full power. Tehri & Koteshwar Dams made profit of Rs.802 crores on Rs.2055 crore Revenue, paid Rs.150 crore Salary, Rs.98 Cr Taxes and Rs.212 cr Dividend

Ø      Multiply by 20 for Potential Revenue of Hydro Projects in Uttarkhand in addition to Flood Protection & Irrigation Benefits’ CWC, THDC, BBMB can’t even write a paragraph correctly.

We expect Professional CEOs of Big Dams who have their own weather Centers to give advance Warning and Give Reports to Media 2-4 Times Every Day at times of Floods – THPC CEO woke up after 12 Days from forecast date and 10 days after Massive Floods were on way –

-          This should be viewed as Worst Level of Professional Misconduct.

-           You shall be shocked BBMB and CWC had stopped public release of Flood Warnings & Daily Reports after I reported ‘Over Filling of 12 Biggest Dams’ on June02, 2013 – over 20 times since 2008. THPC latest release quoted here is also not publicly available.

-          CEO of TPDC is Grossly Incompetent in that he didn’t report Tehri Dam could absorb THREE TIMES Bigger Floods when Empty. (Dam filled up from 5% to 35% of Live Storage) and moderate even bigger floods.

-          FEW SUCH DAMS IN SERIES COULD PREVENT SUCH FLOODS FOREVER.

-          THPC CEO didn’t respond when Media Was Asking ‘What if Tehri Dam Collapses?’ when Tehri Dam had not filled up to even 40% level.

-          Most Shocking of BJP RSS NGOs Wanted to Stop All Flood Protection Dams & Instead Install Up to 2 MW Projects

-          THIS MEANS FOR 20,000 MW GENERATION UTTARAKHAND WOULD NEED 10,0000 2MW POWER PROJECT WITHOUT FLOOD PROTECTION.

- We get similar Level of Tragedy when our Big Dam Operators don’t manage the Dams for Flood Control, – Just Couple of Idiots could do even bigger damage. I have already reported since 2008 how Dams are filled up in the middle of Monsoon season and thereafter Dams lose ability to Absorb Floods.

-          Surat Floods of 2006 caused over Rs.20,000 crore Damage.

-          Kosi Floods 2008 were caused due Corrupt Engineers Didn’t Repair Embankments.

-          Punjab Floods 2008 – Twice – could have washed away many districts.

-          Pakistan Floods too were avoidable Had Pakistan allowed India to build 20 BCM Dam Storage – I predicted it – and reported the excess flow during month long floods was barely 30 MAF – half of it could have been absorbed in India.

SUBSTANDARD ROADS LIKE ABOVE & BUILDINGS ON FRAGILE SLOPES CAUSED 100% LOSS NOT TEHRI DAM. ALL FRAGILE ROADS SHOULD HAVE BEEN BY-PASSED IN TUNNELS.
